Brief Description
The University of Sydney’s School of Mathematics and Statistics offers a postgraduate research program for domestic and international students. The program can be accessed online and provides an award of $37,207 p.a. for up to 3.5 years.
Eligibility
Applicants from all nations are eligible to apply for the Master’s by research or PhD within the School of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Sydney. To be eligible, applicants must have an unconditional offer of admission or be currently enrolled to study full-time in a PhD or Master’s by research within the School of Mathematics and Statistics, Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney. Additionally, applicants must be willing to undertake research in the theory of deep learning or machine learning and hold at least an Honours degree (First Class or Second Class Upper) or Masters degree or equivalent.
How to Apply
To apply for the scholarship, applicants must complete the online application form. In addition to the application form, applicants must provide the following supporting documents: visa and passport, scholarship documentation, English language results, academic transcripts, and degree certificates.
To be eligible for admission, applicants must meet the following admission requirements: a Bachelors degree with first or upper second class Honors’, a Masters degree performed at a high academic standard, and which includes a substantial component of original research, or an equivalent qualification that demonstrates research experience, excellence, and capability.
Applicants must also fulfill one of the following language requirements: PTE 42, TOEFL IBT 52, Cambridge CAE 41, or IELTS 5.0.
If selected, the scholarship will provide a stipend allowance equivalent to the University of Sydney Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend rate per annum, subject to satisfactory academic performance. The duration of the scholarship is up to 1.75 years for a successful Master’s by research recipient and up to 3 years for a successful PhD recipient. The scholarship will also cover overseas health cover for the recipient (single cover only) for the normal full-time duration of the higher degree studies at the University of Sydney.
